Retreat FAQ
Everything you need to know before you take the leap.
01
What is a Liza Roberts Retreat?
A Liza Roberts Creative Retreat is a Thursday evening through Sunday morning adventure designed to help you connect with other creative people, produce beautiful images, and explore somewhere new. It's not just photoshoots, it's an experience. Think: new friends, gorgeous locations, fantasy costuming, and photographs you'll treasure forever.
02
Who are the retreats for?
Anyone who loves creativity, story, costume, and community. My retreats welcome all genders and identities, all experience levels, and all backgrounds. You do not need modeling experience. You do not need costuming experience. You just need to show up.
03
What does a typical retreat weekend look like?
Thursday evening you'll arrive at the Airbnb chosen by Liza, meet your fellow attendees, play some games or just relax and chat, and settle in. Friday and Saturday are packed with photoshoots, shared meals, a workshop, and downtime to explore the area. Sunday morning is checkout. It goes fast in the best possible way.
04
What does my admission fee include?
Your fee covers photoshoots, lodging, and the workshop unless otherwise stated. Transportation, costumes, and groceries are not included, though Liza sometimes offers these as add-ons. Each retreat listing will specify exactly what is and isn't included.
05
How many people attend each retreat?
Retreats are intentionally small and intimate, unless it is specifically a large cast project. Liza believes the heart of the experience is the connections formed, so groups are kept small enough that everyone gets individual attention and nobody gets lost in the crowd.
06
Will I get individual photos or just group shots?
Both — and more individual attention than you might expect. Liza makes sure to spend equal time with each attendant during shoots so that everyone gets their perfect shots. Past attendees have been pleasantly surprised by how much individual attention they received even in a group setting.
07
I have social anxiety. Is this really an experience for me?
Yes. Some of Liza's most enthusiastic repeat attendees came in nervous and left transformed. Liza's style as a photographer is relaxed, with gentle guidance that makes the experience feel fun rather than performative. Many attendees have said their self-consciousness disappeared because they were simply having too good a time to worry.
08
Do special guests attend retreats?
Sometimes! Past retreats have featured guests including Rachel Maksy, Queen Astraea, Charlotte of Chateau Barefoot, Madi Reinhold, Mint Faery, Kelsey of I Do Declare, and more.
09
Can I come with my partner or friend?
Please do! Typically extra fees apply to share a room or bed since Airbnbs often charge for additional guests. It's also extra work for Liza to manage more people — so reach out before booking to discuss the best arrangement.
09
I have an idea for a retreat location, where do I send it?
Liza would love to hear it. Use the contact form to send your suggestion.
10
Can I read about others experiences?
Yes! The testimonials here are a good start. You can also reach out directly and Liza can connect you with past attendees who are happy to share their experience.
10
Can I get a refund for a retreat?
No refunds will be given and Liza is not responsible for rebooking your spot should you no longer be able to attend. Credit will not be issued for a different retreat. Please read each retreat listing carefully before booking and reach out with any questions.
